Skilled Surgical Care You Can Trust

Surgery can feel overwhelming for any pet owner. At Silver Fox Veterinary Medical Centre, we focus on combining surgical expertise with attentive monitoring, pain management, and clear communication. Before surgery, we carefully assess each patient and discuss the procedure, expected recovery, and any recommendations with you. During and after surgery, your pet is monitored closely to help ensure the safest possible experience.

We understand that no two patients are the same. That is why we tailor our surgical plans to your pet’s age, health status, condition, and comfort needs.

Routine and Advanced Soft Tissue Surgery

Our team performs a broad range of routine and advanced soft tissue procedures, including preventative, corrective, emergency, and reconstructive surgeries.

Surgery Services

Procedures include:

  • Spay (ovariohysterectomy)
  • Neuter (castration)
  • Caesarean section (C-section)
Gastrointestinal Surgery

Gastrointestinal Surgery

When pets develop stomach or intestinal problems, timely surgical treatment can be lifesaving. We perform a variety of gastrointestinal procedures for conditions such as foreign body ingestion, intestinal damage, and bloat prevention.

Procedures include:

  • Gastropexy to help prevent gastric dilatation-volvulus (bloat)
  • Gastrotomy for removal of stomach foreign material
  • Enterotomy for removal of intestinal foreign material
  • Intestinal resection and anastomosis to remove unhealthy bowel and reconnect healthy segments
  • Colectomy, for the treatment of chronic megacolon

Urinary and Genitourinary Surgery

Urinary tract conditions can be painful and sometimes urgent. We offer surgical treatment for select bladder and urethral conditions.

Procedures include:

  • Cystotomy for bladder stone removal or biopsy/tumor management
  • Urethrostomy, typically to remove stones trapped in the urethra
  • Vulvoplasty
  • PU surgery ( perineal urethrostomy) for chronic urinary obstruction
Skin, Mass, and Wound Surgery

From minor skin growths to more complex tumor removals and wound repairs, we provide surgical care designed to restore comfort and promote healing.

  • Tumor removal, including benign and malignant masses
  • Laceration and wound repair
Emergency and Advanced Surgery

Emergency and Advanced Surgery

In urgent or life-threatening situations, prompt surgical intervention can make all the difference. We are equipped to perform a range of emergency and advanced soft tissue surgeries.

  • Abdominal exploratory surgery
  • Diaphragmatic hernia repair
  • Gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV) management
Reconstructive Surgery

Reconstructive Surgery

Some wounds or tumor removals require more advanced closure techniques to achieve the best outcome. We offer reconstructive options to help preserve function and support healing.

Some pets, particularly brachycephalic breeds, benefit from airway procedures that improve breathing and quality of life.

Procedures include:

  • Skin flaps, to help with difficult surgical closures or wound closures
  • Rhinoplasty to widen narrowed nostrils
Head and Neck Surgery

Head and Neck Surgery

Certain conditions affecting the face, mouth, ears, eyes or surrounding tissues require specialized surgical planning. We offer a number of head and neck procedures depending on your pet’s needs.

Procedures include:

  • Mandibulectomy
  • Ear surgery
  • Entropian repair
  • Enucleation
  • Prolapsed nictitans replacement ( “cherry eye repair”)
  • Oropharyngeal polyp removal

Orthopedic Surgery

Mobility matters. When pets are dealing with lameness, joint instability, fractures, or painful orthopedic conditions, surgery can often improve function, reduce pain, and help them get back to enjoying life.

At Silver Fox Veterinary Medical Centre, we offer a variety of orthopedic procedures for dogs and cats, with a focus on restoring comfort and movement.

Orthopedic procedures include:

  • TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy)
  • TTA (Tibial Tuberosity Advancement)
  • FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy)
  • Patellar luxation repair
  • Fracture repair- plating and pinning
  • Limb Amputation
  • OCD surgery (Osteochondritis dissecans)
  • Digit amputation
  • Tail amputation

We understand that orthopedic surgery can feel like a big decision. Our team will help guide you through diagnosis, treatment options, expected recovery, and aftercare so you feel confident in your pet’s treatment plan.

Pain Management and Recovery

Your pet’s comfort is one of our highest priorities. We use modern pain management protocols and careful perioperative monitoring to support a smoother recovery. After surgery, we provide detailed discharge instructions and guidance on incision care, activity restriction, medications, and follow-up visits.

Recovery looks different for every patient. Some pets bounce back quickly after routine procedures, while others, especially orthopedic or advanced surgical patients, require a longer healing period and a more structured recovery plan. We are here to support you through that process.
